Am I the only one who doesn’t like to log into other websites using their Facebook (or other social media) account?? Besides the fact that these social media websites are coming all up in my space, I try to keep them out of other aspects of my life. When I want to tweet, I go to twitter, and when I’m OFF twitter, it should stay that way. But no, when I go to my favorite website, I’m asked to log in or sign up with twitter.
One time I logged into a website with Facebook and I wasn’t allowed to log in again using my regular email address because I had signed up using Facebook (big mistake). Fine, I thought to myself, this shouldn’t be a problem. Now since I had logged in with facebook, I didn’t get to set a password. I click to change my password and it say I cannot! Why?? Because I used facebook login! So that’s it?!
From that day, I always insist on regular log ins with my email address. It was so, until I went back to digg.com recently after many years, and I encounter the situation in the photo below…
It pisses me off a little, and now digg has completely eliminated the use of emails to log in. So what if someone is not on any of these social media websites? Then they cannot use digg? I guess that’s the message they’re trying to pass across :-s
What’s your take on this matter? Do you prefer social media login/signups or the regular old email login/signups?
